Moriki Amalia

Amalia Moriki holds a Chemistry B.Sc. degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1988) and a PhD from the Department of Environmental Studies, University of the Aegean, in the field of marine pollution (1994). She has worked as research scientist at the University of the Aegean (1989-1993) and the National Centre for Scientific Research “Democritos” (1994). During the years 1995-1998, she served as a research associate in the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). She has participated in more than twenty scientific research programs working both in the field (oceanographic cruises) and in the laboratory, conducting toxicity tests and instrumental chemical analysis.
During the years 2000-2003, she has worked as teaching assistant at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, teaching Chemistry, Chemical Oceanography, Marine Pollution and Water Quality Control and Monitoring. In 2003 she was elected as Associate Professor in the field “Aquatic Pollution and Toxicology”. In 2014, she became a member of the teaching staff at the Department of Food Technology, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITh). Since 2019 and the reformation that merged Universities and Technological Institutions in Greece, she is a Professor in the field of “Aquatic Ecology and Toxicology” at the Department of Food Science and Technology. She is teaching Organic Chemistry, Food Biochemistry, Food Toxicology, Scientific Report Writing and Laboratory Exercises in Food Analysis. She has published more than 60 scientific papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
